It was a squeaker!
Although Rich made it interesting with his Cleveland pick, justice prevailed and I managed to hold on to win the week with the high score in a 3-way tiebreaker. Of course it shouldn’t have even come to that, but the previously mentioned officiating debacle in Pittsburgh yesterday forced the tie situation and gave Steve and Rich an opportunity to steal the week.
I heard an interview on ESPN radio tonight with a distinguished member of a gambling outfit based in Las Vegas who indicated that the blown call had resulted in a multi-million dollar swing in the betting. When pressed as to whether he meant 2 $MM or maybe more like 7 $MM, he responded that it was probably more like double that! Of course he had to have been smiling as he said it since the betting was predominantly for Pittsburgh, and therefore the officials saved his company a huge pile of cash!!
