Grid finally fixed…
Everything is working again. I have updated everybody’s picks to show Cincy instead of Houston to ensure that nobody is getting an advantage from that game…
Status for the Week
I will try to put something together so that everyone can see all the picks for this week, but for now here are some things you should know for the week:
1. Ken is in the lead for the week after the Sunday games, with 8 wins.
2. Rich and Adrian are each a point back at 7 wins.
3. Rich and Ken both have Tennessee, while Adrian has Indy in the Monday nighter. That puts Rich out of the running for the week.
4. If the Titans win then the Tiebreaker scores are Ken with 46 and Adrian with 44. Good luck tomorrow!
Aside from that, Rich had a good week while his closest competitors in the overall (Sean, Jack, and Tino) did not, and so he is now 4 points ahead in the overall with only 1 week left before the 1st half prize is awarded.
That is all.
Update
Still no word on if/how they are going to fix the grid, but everything else in the OP system is working, and so the round and overall scores are calculating.
I didn’t hear back from nearly enough people about the Cincy vs Houston game, so we will not be counting it in our pool. I will go in and change all the picks for that game to Cincy to ensure that nobody gets points for it.
You can see the total scores for this week by clicking on “Scores” then “Pools by Round”. You can see the current overall score by choosing “Scores” then “Pool Overall Totals”. I will have the pool updated within the next 15 minutes or so to reflect the Houston game.
Cinci at Houston Update
So it looks like the OP grid is f’d up because of this game. Some of our pool members were able to make a pick for this game, while some weren’t. the game doesn’t start for a couple hours, so if I get an email from everyone that was not able to see this game in their grid then I will try to figure out how to include it in the scores. If it’s in your grid then you don’t need to send me a note.
I can see everyone’s picks, but probably most of you can’t.
NOTE – if I don’t get a note from everyone that has not already made a pick for this game prior to kickoff (4:05 EDT), then we will be not be using this game in this weeks score, nor in the season score.
Houston is favored over Cincinnati by 9.5 points. My pick is Cincy.
Week 8 — Cinci at Houston
I know many of you are wondering what the deal is with the Cincinnati at Houston game that was rescheduled for week 8, since it doesn’t appear in the grid ast Office-Pools. Well, I’m wondering too. There is a note on the front page at OP saying that they had fixed the schedule. The adjusted shchedule is correct for week 9 and 10, yet this game doesn’t show up in week 8. Interestingly, the game does show up in the grid for the Suicide pool…
Anyway, I have been emailing OP about this once a day all week and have yet to receive a response from them. I’ll keep trying, but if it doesn’t show up then we will simply use the games that do appear for our weekly and overall results.
I’ll keep you informed if I learn anything new.
A crushing victory for New England
The topsy turvy NFL season continued with a huge victory by New England over Denver on Monday night. Now Denver really hasn’t looked great this year, and they really benefitted from some major officiating screwups in the first couple of weeks, but the Pats haven’t been very good either and so most expected this to be a pretty close game. No dice though as the Pats put the hurt on the Bronc’s and ran the score up to 34-0 before Denver even got on the board.
Many other wildly unpredictable results have been seen all through the season so far, and many would say that this is just a sign of the parity resulting from the salary cap. That may be true, but it’s still very different from what we’ve seen over the last few years. I guess that’s why they have to play every game instead of just letting the wankers in Vegas decide!
The New England victory also sealed the weekly win for Joe in our pool. He was able to hold off a hard charging Jack who would have taken the week with a Denver win (and a high total score). The result also allowed Rich to hold onto his lead in the overall. It wasn’t looking so good for Rich earlier in the weekend when 4 players had moved into a tie for first overall. Rich maintained his sole posession of first with two tied for second (at one point back) and another two tied for third (at one more point back). Only two more weeks until the first half winner is decided… Good luck!
The unlikely tie…
Well, I guess the Giants really are who we thought they were! That was one seriously ugly performance from Eli and it will be interesting to see if that’s the way it’s going to go from here on out, or was it just one week among many??
Anyway, the Cleveland win resulted in a tiebreaker between Adrian and Tino. However they both predicted the same score for the Monday night game, so the tie stands and they will split the money. Congratulations!
Potential Tie
For the first time in weeks we’re actually going to a Monday nighter without a clear winner! Adrian is in the lead with 9 points for the week, but Tino has 8 and a different winner for Monday. If the Giants win then Adrian will win it outright. But if Cleveland pulls off the unlikely upset then they will split the pot since they both have 44 points for the tiebreaker. The spread is at 8.5 for NYG by the way… Good luck to both of you!
And the winner is….
With Washington’s improbable loss to the Rams, and with the Vikings ugly (but much more probable) win over the Lions, the Suicide pool is over! Ken Fraser won it in a record 6 weeks, taking the entire $75 for himself. Congratulations Ken!!
Week 5 Results
So even before the Monday nighter gets played, Jack has the week all locked up. In fact he had it locked before the Sunday nighter, and maybe even before that. It’s a minimum 11 point week for Jack (an amazing 85% so far) which is particularly stunning since two guys are sitting at 5 for the week (38%) and another 2 are at 6!
In fact if you look at the season stats so far they are pretty incredible too. Our fearless leader (Rich) is sitting at 62% for the season while the low man is at 42%. While 42% for the low score is very typical for our pool, 62% is amazing for any pool against the spread. A couple of years ago the overall winner had only 50%. And even last year the winner (Rich, hmmm) was only at 56%. The improvement over just a couple of years is pretty amazing. We might have to change the rules again next year to keep it interesting!
The suicide pool was pretty boring this week as none of the three remaining players were ever in danger of losing. One player had Carolina who reminded the Chiefs that they do actually suck by racking up a 34-0 win, while the other two guys had Dallas. Dallas may not have been quite so impressive in their win over the lowly Bengals, but they were also never in any danger of losing. 0 down, 2 to go.
